Well, it has been an incredibly busy week. If someone had told me that working for a gaming company was actually busier that working at an Advertising Agency before I joined, I would have questioned their sanity. Not anymore. This place is a hoppin’ — especially our department, as we are preparing last-minute ads, printing out graphics for the convention, and still getting new projects to the printer. Expect to see me doing some ultra-heavy relaxation during the evenings
at GenCon.

No, seriously. Expect it.

Anyhow. I am sure most of you could care less about my day-to-day worries. And so you shouldn’t! You should care about upcoming cards! And I have some more to show you… more Actions. It’s almost the end of Week #2 of the Wrath of the Emperor Card Previews, so I thought it was time to take a look at some more Personalities. This week’s batch doesn’t follow a particular path or theme, they’re all just cool cards. If anything, there’s quite a few storyline Personalities in this set, as well as a larger than normal number of Uniques. It’s good to see Ide Tang again, as well as Tsuruchi Okame… but I think I’m happiest to see Megumi, Exp (formerly Daidoji Megumi). Didn’t I say there was a large number of Daidoji in this set? ; )

I’m planning to have a very busy week here at AEG, as we are already ramping up for the events at Gen Con Indy 2004. Hope to see as many of you there as possible. If you do not already know, we will be hosting another L5R Seminar, similar to last year’s Diamond Ed. Seminar. This year we will be showing off the upcoming storyline set, Dawn of the Empire, available to Imperial Assembly members. Those showing up will get to see the set in its entirety.

In the meantime, I have some more previews for Wrath of the Emperor… followers! There are some pretty clan-specific Followers in this set, although some will likely find homes in just about any deck. Share and enjoy! : )

NOTE: Phoenix were one of the only clans that did not seem to have a Follower specifically designed for their clan… although one could argue that they will be able to use the new Spells better than any other clan (you’ll see soon), or the Kihos (again, you’ll see what I mean), and  even some of the Items. However, just about ANYONE could use a Follower like the one below. Destroying pesky Terrains is always good.

HEY! It’s Friday! Welcome to the end of WEEK 1 of The Wrath of the Emperor Card Previews. Today, I’ll focus on the new Formations in Wrath, the action card type introduced in The Hidden City. As many of you have already guessed, developing clan-oriented Formations is the natural progression for these new Battle Actions, so each one in Wrath has a clan-affiliation of sorts. Most are still able to be played by the rest of the clans… some easier than other. Enjoy!

Sensei are not Fate cards. They can't go in you deck. You start with one in play, selected and revealed in the same way and at the same time Winds are.

Sensei traits and abilities are not copied onto your Stronghold.

Welcome to WEEK 1 of The Wrath of the Emperor Card Previews! Now that everyone has a very general idea of what it’s in the set, let’s start taking a closer look at some more Personalities. While the Singular Clan Heroes were designed to provide a little added “oomph” to some of the lesser-used Strongholds in the environment, this round of Personalities will find homes in all types of decks. These “Legion Commanders” and “Generals” (the Nezumi have a “Spirit” in their ranks) are already in my decks in photocopy form. Must… wait… for… printed…

Hola!

Even though I am a diehard Scorpion player, I would have to say that this is my favorite stronghold of the bunch in Wrath of the Emperor. Vaguely reminiscent of Temple of the Ninth Kami (as a control deck stronghold), Iuchiban’s Citadel makes up for it’s lack of active dueling with active rewards for personality kill. Since all Shadowlands decks must ultimately find a way to win militarily, Iuchiban’s Citadel rewards players when they kill opposing Personalities with Chi-loss. This frees up your Fate Deck to concentrate on the killing, and have the stronghold beef up your Personalities to take Provinces. I can’t wait to play this one… : )

There’s a whole lotta new stuff for Legend of the Five Rings CCG in Wrath of the Emperor, so I thought I’d launch the Card Previews for this set with a familiar group of Personalities: Clan Heroes. Most of those who have played the game since Imperial Edition can recall a time when Clan Heroes roamed the environment.
The Design Team has added a twist to these: make them good, solid, Personalities; make them so that you can still play them when facing an opponent in a mirror match (hence, “Singular” instead of “Unique”); and give them an added bonus ability when used with a particular stronghold. With the exception of the Ratling, every clan receives a “House Hero” in WotE… but I have made sure to showcase a Nezumi as well. Share and enjoy! : )

Encuestas: El resultado de nuestra encuesta sobre las Formaciones de Batalla de Hidden City es el siguiente: Lo mejor de la expansión - 20%, Cuando las pruebe opinaré - 12%, Ni fu ni fa - 40%, Todavía no se ni como se usan - 4%, La última rayada de AEG - 20%, Desequilibran el juego - 4%. Por tanto, la opinión mayoritaria es que no pasan de ser una carta más.

Wrath of the Emperor: Noticias, rumores y previews. ¡Ya está aquí la nueva expansión! En principio, vuelven los senseis. Puede que haya cartas "específicas" de cada stronghold, o que cambien según el que uses. Los nuevos Strongholds serán Kyuden Bayushi (2 vientos), Iuchiban's Citadel, Shiro Giji. Saldrán experimentados: Yasuki Hachi (Grulla/Cangrejo), Mirumoto Rosanjin, Moto Chen, Bayushi Baku, Shiba Tsukimi, Katsu, Tsuruchi Okame, Tamago (el Falso Nimuro), Ikoma Tsai. Habrá 6 Personalidades por Clan, uno será exp. y otro será un héroe. Puedes leer todos los rumores en La Voz Akasha.
